Wood-look flooring is long-wearing

Choose laminate planks or tiles, luxury vinyl planks or tiles, or porcelain tile if you want a wood-look floor. These three materials are more than practical and ideal for moisture-prone spaces. The pet-friendly flooring is durable and can withstand daily wear and tear in even the most active households. Jerseyville Carpet & Furniture Galleries, which has been serving the Southwest Central Illinois area since 1973, carries a wide variety of styles in each material.

Laminate planks

Laminate planks are composed of four layers, including a fiberboard core protected by a backing layer. A wear layer covers the high-tech image that mimics the look of wood. Judge durability by the abrasion coefficient rating. An AC3 rating is ideal. Laminate flooring brands that are marked 'waterproof' repel water for up to 30 hours.

Luxury vinyl planks

Luxury vinyl is another synthetic flooring that is composed of four layers. Planks that have a wood-plastic composite or a stone plastic composite core are waterproof. WPC and SPC flooring can repel water for an extended period. The wear layer, which protects the design layer, determines durability. A wear layer with a 20+ mil thickness is best.

Porcelain tile

Porcelain tile flooring is available in many designs, including wood-look designs. While ceramic tile is made of coarse clay, porcelain tile is made of kaolin clay. Therefore, porcelain is harder and denser. It is also inherently waterproof. Porcelain is the most durable tile material, and thus, it is appropriate for high-traffic areas. Wood-look tile is ideal for kitchens and bathrooms.
